OpenAI Introduces the Codex Micro Desktop Controller

OpenAI has teamed up with Work Louder to introduce the Codex Micro, a compact desktop controller designed for developers who use Codex. The device features customizable mechanical keys, a joystick, a rotary dial, and dedicated Agent Keys that display the live status of AI coding agents through RGB lighting. Users can launch common workflows, trigger frequently used commands, and adjust Codex’s reasoning level directly from the hardware, with every control configurable through the ChatGPT desktop app. The limited-edition device is intended to give developers a more tactile way to interact with Codex while reducing the need to switch between keyboard shortcuts and on-screen controls during everyday coding tasks. It remains to be seen whether this physical interface for AI will find its market and deliver the expected benefits in everyday software development.
